  • Story: Well, I was introduced to MMA a few years ago when I saw an EliteXC competition on Showtime. I watched some UFC matches and though I was sceptical at first, it sparked my interest, but I wouldn' t really get into it for another year or two. I have been training for football with this personal trainer named Frank Wellings for a good few years now. He has a facility called F.A.S.T and he trains in MMA and is primarily a Russian Sambo fighter. Another guy who works at his gym named Ryan Ahearn trains with Frank at Ultimate Sambo in Florida, New York , he is also well versed in BJJ and Karate. After hearing them talk about it all the time and I asked them to start incorperating MMA into my training. I started out learning BJJ and then learned some Muay Thai strikes. I fell in love with the sport and am going to start training with Frank and Ryan at Ultimate sambo this spring! I have been able to introduce a number of my friends to the sport, and it seems their interest has been sparked. I'm hoping to begin a much larger MMA following in my home town of Wawick, New York.
